Role Description

The CCM Mold Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the mold section of the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) to ensure consistent billet quality and smooth casting operations. This role works closely with CCM Operators, CCM Shift Supervisors, and LRF teams to maintain proper molten steel flow, mold cooling, and surface quality.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in CCM mold operations or continuous casting in a steel mill.
• Strong knowledge of mold functions, cooling systems, and mold-level control.
• Experience with billet quality monitoring, surface defect detection, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to respond quickly to abnormalities and adjust mold parameters safely.
• Good coordination, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit to work in hot and high-noise industrial environments.
• Willingness to work in shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the CCM mold section to maintain continuous casting of billets.
• Adjust mold level, cooling flow, and withdrawal speed as per metallurgical requirements.
• Monitor billet surface quality and detect defects such as cracks, scale, or uneven cooling.
• Coordinate with CCM Operators and LRF teams to ensure smooth steel supply and casting continuity.
• Perform mold inspection, cleaning, and maintenance as per schedule.
• Respond immediately to mold abnormalities or alarms and take corrective action.
• Maintain records of mold temperatures, cooling flow rates, and any adjustments made.
• Assist in minor maintenance and replacement of mold components under supervision.
• Enforce safety procedures, PPE usage, and housekeeping in the CCM area.
• Support training of junior mold operators and new team members.
