وردەکاری (التفاصيل مع الوصف الوظيفي)

Role Description

The Refractory Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and supervising the refractory linings of furnaces, ladles, and other high-temperature steelmaking equipment. This role ensures optimal refractory performance, extends equipment life, reduces downtime, and maintains safe and efficient operations in the melting shop, LRF, and CCM areas. The Refractory Engineer works closely with Maintenance, Furnace Operators, and Production teams to monitor refractory conditions and implement corrective actions.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in refractory engineering, design, installation, or maintenance in steel mills or high-temperature industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of refractory materials, installation techniques, thermal stresses, and failure mechanisms.
  • Experience with furnaces, ladles, CCM, or similar steelmaking equipment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, refractory layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Good problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
  • Physically capable of inspecting and working in high-temperature industrial environments.

  • Kurdish (required) 
  • English (is plus) 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and select appropriate refractory materials for furnaces, ladles, and CCM equipment.
  • Supervise refractory installation, repair, and maintenance works.
  • Monitor refractory condition, wear patterns, and thermal performance during operations.
  • Plan and schedule preventive maintenance, lining replacements, and emergency repairs.
  • Coordinate with Furnace Operators, LRF Operators, and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
  • Provide technical guidance to refractory technicians and helpers during installation and repairs.
  • Analyze refractory failures and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of refractory materials.
  • Maintain records of refractory usage, inspections, repairs, and lifespans.
  • Enforce safety rules, hot-work permits, and PPE requirements during refractory works.
  • Recommend process or design improvements to enhance refractory life and performance.
