Role Description

The CCM Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) to ensure smooth steel casting and billet production. This role monitors casting parameters, maintains molten steel quality, coordinates with the LRF and Furnace teams, and ensures billets meet metallurgical and dimensional requirements.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience operating CCMs in a steel mill.
• Strong knowledge of continuous casting processes, cooling systems, and mold operations.
• Experience with CCM automation controls, sensors, and alarms.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues during casting.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically capable of working in hot and noisy industrial environments.
• Willingness to work in shifts.

Language

• Kurdish (required)

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the CCM to ensure continuous billet casting.
• Control molten steel flow, mold level, cooling rate, and withdrawal speed.
• Coordinate with LRF operators to receive properly prepared ladles.
• Monitor casting quality and take corrective actions for surface defects, cracks, or misalignment.
• Perform start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures as per SOPs.
• Inspect molds, rollers, and hydraulic systems regularly.
• Maintain accurate shift records including casting speed, billet count, and delays.
• Communicate with maintenance teams for immediate repairs or preventive maintenance.
• Ensure safety compliance, PPE usage, and housekeeping around the CCM area.
