Role Description: Induction Furnace Bari
The Induction Furnace Bariman is responsible for the safe and efficient melting of scrap steel using induction heating technology. This role focuses on controlling the electrical power cycles, managing the charging process, and maintaining the refractory lining of the furnace. The goal is to produce liquid steel that meets specific temperature and chemical requirements while maximizing the life of the furnace crucible.
Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience specifically operating Induction Melting Furnaces (IMF) in a steel plant.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of induction coils, water-cooling systems, and power supply units (rectifiers/inverters).
- Refractory Expertise: Experience in furnace "ramming" (lining installation), sintering heats, and monitoring lining wear.
- Safety Expertise: Knowledge of "bridging" hazards (where scrap jams and creates a molten pool underneath) and how to break them safely.
- Physical Fitness: Capability to work in high-heat and high-magnetic field environments.
- Willingness to work in shifts.
Language
- Kurdish (required)
- English (is plus)
Key Responsibilities
- Melting Management: Control the power input (kW) to melt the charge efficiently while avoiding overheating that could damage the induction coil.
- Charging Supervision: Oversee the sequence of scrap charging to ensure the densest materials are melted first and to prevent "bridging" of the scrap.
- Crucible Maintenance: Monitor the thickness of the refractory lining and perform daily "patching" to prevent molten metal from reaching the copper coils (coil leak).
- Cooling System Monitoring: Constantly check the temperature and flow of the de-mineralized (DM) water cooling the induction coils to prevent explosions or meltdowns.
- Chemistry & Temperature: Take frequent "dip" samples for chemical analysis and use immersion pyrometers to check the precise tapping temperature.
- Slag Removal: Manually or mechanically remove slag from the surface of the molten metal to ensure clean steel for the CCM.
- Emergency Response: Execute emergency procedures during power failures or water leaks, including the use of emergency tilting systems to empty the furnace.
- Reporting: Log energy consumption per ton, refractory performance, and any downtime due to electrical or mechanical issues.
